Position Highlights

Seamstress. Working with the housekeeping and linen team, your core purpose is to keep uniforms, linen and soft furnishings in good repair for every department. You will sew napkins, table skirts and new uniforms, mend and hem garments, issue and track uniforms, re-upholster cushions, manage pillows and respond to guest mending requests.

Key Responsibilities

• Sew items needed by any hotel department, such as table napkins, table skirts and new uniforms
• Mend, adjust and hem uniforms and linen as required, inspecting uniforms daily for loose buttons, tears and other repairs
• Assign uniforms to new employees, log them in the uniform log book and replace uniforms according to procedures
• Keep linen and uniforms in order and in good repair, checking uniform inventory and advising the Housekeeping Manager when to reorder
• Mend or re-upholster chair cushions
• Ensure sufficient clean pillows are always available, and recover soiled pillows when necessary
• Handle guest requests for garment mending, and respond to guest inquiries and requests within 15 minutes
• Handle telephone calls and pass on messages
• Assist or relieve the Linen Attendant when needed

Requirements, Skills & Traits

Requirements:

EPB diploma preferred but not required. Must be a certified seamstress or have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the position. Can understand and speak Papiamento and Spanish; English and Dutch are preferred. Must hold a Dutch passport or a valid work permit.

Core Skills:

Sewing, mending, hemming and alterations. Upholstery repair for cushions. Uniform issuing, logging and inventory control.

Soft Skills:

Careful and precise with an eye for detail. Responsive and dependable in handling requests from guests and colleagues.

Success Metrics

Uniforms and linen are always in good repair and available, new employees receive correctly logged uniforms, guest mending requests are handled promptly, and uniform stock is reordered on time.
