Position Highlights

Assistant Bartender / Barback. Supporting the bartenders throughout each shift, your core purpose is to make sure the bar never runs short and always looks its best. You will set up and restock liquor, mixers, garnishes, ice and glassware, change kegs, bus tables, clean the bar and its equipment and help with inventory.

Key Responsibilities

• Process requisitions and pick-ups, and make sure there is always enough back-up liquor, running to storage when a bartender runs out
• Set up liquor and check liquor, wine, beer, juice, mixer and soft drink stock, replenishing supplies and changing kegs when required
• Cut lemons, limes and oranges, prepare mixers, and restock garnishes and mixes
• Prepare napkins, coasters and stir sticks, and set up ashtrays for service
• Stock ice throughout the shift and keep clean glassware and clean rags at every bartender's station
• Pick up empty glasses and bottles from tables and around the bar, and wipe down tables and bar tops
• Check the condition and cleanliness of furniture, floors, table tops and bar tops
• Clean the liquor cabinet, bar, sink, ice bins, ice machine and glass washer, and empty trash
• Assist with bar equipment inventory and check beverage coupons of guests not on the all-inclusive plan
• Be familiar with the property's fire and emergency program

Requirements, Skills & Traits

Requirements:

EPB diploma as a minimum; for the Assistant Bartender role, 1 year of experience as a barback. Fluent in English and Papiamento; Spanish and Dutch are a plus. Minimum age 18. Must have a valid Health Card. Must hold a Dutch passport or a valid work permit.

Core Skills:

Bar set-up, stocking and restocking. Garnish and mixer preparation. Glassware, ice and bar equipment cleaning. Good computer skills and suggestive (up)selling. Food safety and HACCP guidelines.

Soft Skills:

Great communication skills with an outgoing personality. Service oriented and a team player.

Success Metrics

The bar is always stocked with liquor, ice, glassware and garnishes, bartenders can serve without interruption, and the bar area and equipment are clean and in good condition.
