Position Highlights

Bellman. Often the first person to escort guests to their room, your core purpose is to make arrival and departure smooth, informative and welcoming. You will handle luggage for individual guests and groups, introduce room features and safety information, make deliveries, assist with transportation and keep the lobby and bell carts in good order.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of the lobby, hotel entrance and luggage carts, and clean and polish bell service carts as necessary
  • Welcome guests as returning or first-time visitors, escort them to their room, and deliver luggage quickly and efficiently
  • Handle group luggage delivery and check-out according to standards, with great attention to detail to avoid misplaced luggage
  • Memorize hotel information to inform guests accurately about room features, air-conditioning, telephone, TV and in-room safes
  • Point out fire pull boxes, iceboxes, fire safety cards and the evacuation plan, and offer to bring ice to the room
  • Explain the guest service directory and comment card, and advise guests of services offered by the Guest Relations Manager
  • Make all deliveries of messages, letters and flowers in a timely manner and log them in the book
  • Inspect guest rooms for items left behind at check-out, and inquire about the guest's stay when escorting them to the lobby, advising the manager of any dissatisfied guests
  • Store and return guest luggage following procedures, assist the doorman with loading and unloading, and assist guests with transportation needs
  • Answer the bell stand telephone within three rings, assist with room changes and follow up on pending assignments on the Call sheet
  • Assist guests in recovering lost luggage with the Bell Captain or Supervisor until it is returned

Requirements, Skills & Traits

Requirements:

MAVO high school diploma or equivalent. Fluent in English, Spanish and Dutch. Must have a valid driver's license. Able to work different shifts. Strong physical condition. Must hold a Dutch passport or a valid work permit.

Core Skills:

Luggage handling and delivery for individual guests and groups. Knowledge of hotel facilities, room features and safety information. Professional telephone standards. Assisting with guest transportation.

Soft Skills:

Service oriented with a pleasant personality. Attentive to detail and reliable in following procedures.

Success Metrics

Luggage is delivered quickly and never misplaced, guests understand their room features and resort services, deliveries are logged and on time, and the lobby, entrance and carts are always presentable.
