Position Highlights

Head Greenkeeper. As a strategic and agronomic leader, your core purpose is to oversee the comprehensive maintenance and health of our golf course facilities. You will combine environmental stewardship, operational leadership, and financial planning to ensure exceptional course playability while leading a dedicated greenkeeping team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive annual maintenance diary, including aeration, top-dressing, and overseeding
• Identify and treat turf diseases and pests using Integrated Pest Management to minimize chemical reliance
• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and programming of the irrigation system to ensure optimal moisture levels
• Manage out-of-play areas, including roughs and woodlands, to promote biodiversity and local wildlife habitats
• Direct and motivate the greenkeeping team, ensuring work is completed to the highest standard
• Create daily and weekly work rosters that account for tournament schedules, weather forecasts, and staff availability
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure all operations comply with Health and Safety legislation and COSHH standards
• Prepare and manage the annual greens budget, tracking expenditures for machinery, chemicals, fuel, and labor
• Develop a rolling machinery replacement program and attend committee meetings to provide technical updates on course conditions

Requirements, Skills & Traits

Requirements:

A Highschool Diploma and an NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Sports Turf Management (or equivalent) are required. Must have at least 8 years of greenkeeping experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role. Certifications in PA1, PA2, and PA6 Safe Use of Pesticides spraying are mandatory. Requires a Dutch Passport or a valid work permit.

Core Skills:

Deep understanding of soil science, drainage, and irrigation hydraulics. Strong grasp of the rules and etiquette of golf to guarantee course playability. Basic understanding of machinery operation and maintenance. Fluent in English, Spanish, and Dutch, alongside good computer skills.

Soft Skills:

Strong communication capabilities and a motivational leadership style. Highly adaptable, with the ability to pivot plans instantly based on changing weather patterns.

Success Metrics

The golf course remains in pristine condition, supported by proactive turf health and precise water management. The greenkeeping team operates safely and efficiently under structured daily and weekly work rosters. Greens budgets are carefully managed, and machinery is systematically maintained to ensure long-term operational excellence.
