Position Highlights
Engineer. Based at the engineering control desk and on call across the resort, your core purpose is to resolve maintenance issues quickly and to the guest's satisfaction. You will handle electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning and refrigeration work in guest rooms and public areas, keep the shift logbook, delegate to technicians and flag recurring problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly and efficiently to maintenance calls from guests and other departments, resolving matters to the guest's satisfaction
- Perform maintenance in guest rooms and public areas, including electrical equipment, plumbing and air conditioning
- Program TVs and perform general housekeeping and engineering inventory duties
- Understand and operate electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and water systems
- Solve problems and make repairs effectively and efficiently
- Maintain a daily logbook of work done during the shift and give a proper handover to the next shift
- Delegate duties to Engineering supervisors and other technicians
- Enter all guest and back-of-house complaints at the engineering control desk as soon as they are received
- Inform Engineering leadership of recurring complaints so they can be fixed permanently
Requirements, Skills & Traits
Requirements:
EPI diploma or MAVO diploma, with 2 years of experience preferred. Fluent in English, Spanish, Dutch and Papiamento. Demonstrable electrical experience. Strong physical condition. Must hold a Dutch passport or a valid work permit.
Core Skills:
Knowledge of engineering operations and current working knowledge of general maintenance. Electrical, plumbing, AC, refrigeration and water systems. Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
Soft Skills:
Courteous and prompt with guests. Able to work without close supervision, and organized in logging work and handing over between shifts.
Success Metrics
Maintenance calls are answered promptly and resolved to the guest's satisfaction, every complaint is logged, recurring problems are escalated and fixed, and each shift hands over clearly.
