Position Highlights
A/C Technician. As the resort's air conditioning and refrigeration specialist, your core purpose is to keep cooling systems efficient, safe and reliable. You will build, install, test and repair refrigeration and A/C systems, from brazing and wiring to charging refrigerant, and keep accurate records of repairs and malfunctions.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble structural and functional refrigeration components using hand tools, power tools and welding equipment
- Lift and align components into position, drill holes and install mounting brackets and hangers, and mount compressors, condensers and other components
- Read blueprints to determine the location, size, capacity and type of components needed, and lay out reference points using measuring instruments
- Cut, bend, thread and connect pipe, and install wiring to connect components to a power source
- Insulate shells and cabinets, and install expansion and control valves using acetylene torches and wrenches
- Braze or solder parts to repair defective joints and leaks, and test lines, components and connections for leaks
- Observe and test system operation using gauges and instruments, and dismantle malfunctioning systems to test components
- Adjust or replace worn or defective parts and reassemble repaired systems, including mechanical overhauls and refrigerant reclaiming
- Adjust valves to specification and charge systems with the proper refrigerant
- Keep records of repairs, replacements and causes of malfunctions
Requirements, Skills & Traits
Requirements:
EPB Techniek graduate; MBO/EPI graduate preferred. At least 2 years of experience in A/C refrigeration. Courses in air conditioning and refrigeration. Able to communicate in Papiamento and English. Strong physical condition. Must hold a Dutch passport or a valid work permit.
Core Skills:
Repairing different kinds of A/C, cooling and heating systems. Troubleshooting and detecting damage and malfunctions. Knowledge of indoor air quality. Basic computer skills.
Soft Skills:
Service oriented and a team player. Careful and methodical with testing and record-keeping.
Success Metrics
A/C and refrigeration systems run reliably, leaks and malfunctions are found and repaired quickly, and repair records are complete and accurate.
