Position Highlights

Security Supervisor. Leading the security team on each shift, your core purpose is to keep guests, employees and property safe and to make sure the team works to the hotel's standards. You will assign and monitor officers, train and coach them, handle undesirable visitors, incidents and emergencies, liaise with the police and control traffic and parking.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security team attendance and grooming, review requirements, hand out assignments and hold pre-shift meetings
• Review all reports, work through the Head of Security's checklist and follow up on pending and urgent matters
• Monitor the team throughout the shift, review and evaluate compliance with standards, and discuss non-compliance with the Rooms Division Manager
• Check that equipment such as telephones and radios works, and raise and follow up on work orders with Engineering
• Train and orient new team members, follow up on trainings, observe and coach, and give and accept feedback
• Handle undesirable visitors and follow up on suspicious persons, and ensure employee packages are checked
• Handle guest and employee accidents and injuries, including First Aid, following hotel procedures, and take charge in emergencies while informing the necessary managers
• Handle police cases confidentially and according to procedure, and handle news media courteously and according to procedure
• Monitor Lost and Found procedures and ensure all guest and employee issues are handled professionally
• Control traffic, hotel property and parking according to hotel rules
• Assume security officer duties during absences

Requirements, Skills & Traits

Requirements:

MAVO high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a security officer and 2 years of experience in a supervisory position. Security training. Clean police record. Fluent in Papiamento and English. Good physical health. Must hold a Dutch passport or a valid work permit.

Core Skills:

Security operations, patrol and access control. Incident, accident and emergency response, including First Aid procedures. Staff scheduling, training and standards review. Good computer skills.

Soft Skills:

Good leadership and communication skills. Thinks clearly and quickly, makes concise decisions, and prioritizes guest and employee safety.

Success Metrics

Every shift is properly staffed and briefed, incidents and emergencies are handled correctly and reported, standards are consistently met, and guests, employees and property stay safe.
