Position Highlights
Kitchen Steward. As a vital part of the kitchen team, your core purpose is to keep equipment, storage and work areas clean, sanitized and ready for service. You will clean kitchen equipment, fridges, ovens, filters and hoods, handle deep-fry oil and waste areas, prepare the buffet before service and report breakdowns and safety issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment
- Strain and change deep-fry oil as required
- Clean and sanitize food storage areas, walk-in fridges, freezers, ovens, freestanding hot and cold boxes and dry storage cupboards
- Clean filters and hoods
- Clean and sanitize the loading dock, rubbish containers and all rubbish bins from food production and service areas
- Store all cleaned articles in the correct areas, and remove stains from dishes and cutlery as required
- Prepare the buffet before service and clean after service
- Keep all access and traffic areas clear and clean
- Keep equipment in the steward's area in good condition, and report breakdowns, accidents, breakages and safety issues to the Leader
Requirements, Skills & Traits
Requirements:
High school diploma preferred but not required. Can understand and speak Papiamento. Able to work different shifts. Must have a valid Health Card. Must hold a Dutch passport or a valid work permit.
Core Skills:
Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment and storage areas. Handling deep-fry oil and waste areas. Buffet preparation and clean-up. Food safety and HACCP guidelines.
Soft Skills:
Dependable and punctual, with a strong sense of responsibility for a clean and safe workplace. Team player who reports issues promptly.
Success Metrics
Equipment, storage and traffic areas are consistently clean and sanitized, the buffet is ready before service, and breakdowns and safety issues are reported without delay.
