Position Highlights

Kitchen Steward. In this essential role, you serve as a vital guardian of our culinary foundation. Your core purpose is to maintain an impeccable environment for food production, ensuring that all equipment and storage areas meet the highest standards of hygiene and safety. By providing the “quiet authority” of a clean and organized workspace, you enable our culinary team to focus on delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, including ovens, freestanding hot and cold boxes, and food production tools.
• Monitor and maintain deep fry oil quality, performing straining and changes as required.
• Maintain the pristine condition of food storage areas, including walk-in fridges, freezers, and dry storage cupboards.
• Execute detailed cleaning of filters, hoods, loading docks, and all waste disposal containers.
• Ensure all cleaned dishes and cutlery are stored in their correct locations, removing stains and maintaining inventory quality.
• Assist with the professional preparation and cleanup of buffet service areas.
• Maintain clear and clean traffic areas throughout the kitchen to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
• Proactively report equipment breakdowns or safety issues to the department leader to ensure continuous operation.

Requirements, Skills & Traits

Requirements:

High school diploma is preferred. Must possess a valid Health Card and have the legal right to work in Aruba (Dutch Passport or valid work permit). Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Core Skills:

Ability to understand and speak English and Spanish. Practical knowledge of food safety and HACCP guidelines.

Soft Skills:

A strong “team player” spirit with a dedication to cleanliness and detailed organization. Reliable, energetic, and committed to a service-minded approach.

Success Metrics

Consistently high scores on internal and external health and safety inspections. Demonstrated proactive maintenance of kitchen equipment, resulting in fewer reported breakdowns. Efficient and timely completion of daily cleaning protocols while maintaining a collaborative relationship with the culinary staff.
