Position Highlights

Assistent Trai Merdia (Afterschool Care Assistant). In this part-time afternoon role, you will play a key role in welcoming children after school and guiding them through their daily homework and learning activities. Operating within a safe and encouraging setting, you will work directly with students to address their individual learning needs, foster positive social habits, and support a peaceful, cooperative atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide attentive supervision and care for children during afterschool hours in a safe environment
• Assist students with their homework, focusing on their individual academic questions and learning needs
• Offer supplementary practice materials and guidance to help students strengthen foundational skills where needed
• Guide social behavior, helping children learn how to interact respectfully, handle conflicts, and work together
• Maintain an organized, welcoming, and positive learning environment throughout afternoon shifts
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and parents regarding children’s progress and daily engagement

Requirements, Skills & Traits

Requirements:

Experience in childcare or a strong desire to gain hands-on experience working with children. Ability to work part-time afternoon schedules. Candidates must possess legal authorization to work in Aruba.

Core Skills:

Fluency in the Dutch language is required. Strong capability in homework assistance and elementary educational guidance. Practical skills in child supervision, behavior management, and conflict resolution.

Soft Skills:

Kind, compassionate, and patient nature. Responsible, dependable, and highly trustworthy. Flexible mindset with a genuine passion for youth development and community support.

Success Metrics

Students complete homework accurately and build academic confidence in a safe environment. Children develop positive social behaviors and conflict resolution skills under your guidance. Daily afternoon care activities run smoothly, consistently upholding safety and educational standards.
