Basic function:

The Line Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring the productivity, quality, and safety of all bottling operations. This includes efficiently operating various machines on production lines, maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment, and ensuring that all work adheres to the company’s policies, procedures, and performance standards (TBC/BNB). The operator must feed components onto assembly conveyors, into hoppers, or other machinery to maintain continuous production.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include replenishing and unloading materials such as corrugated cardboard, glue, plastic wrap, cartons, bottles, caps, labels, sprayers, and more, while avoiding breaks in the assembly process.
  • Line Setup and Changeovers: Set up equipment for production runs, adjust machinery as needed, and perform product changeovers efficiently.
  • Additionally, the operator will manually assemble or install various liquid packaging components as required, ensuring a high-quality product and presentation.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage the supply of raw materials (bottles, caps, labels, etc.) to avoid interruptions in production.
  • Production Monitoring: Track production data, such as output rates, efficiency, and downtime, and report it to supervisors.
  • Execute CIP & COP Procedures: Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of bottling equipment, tanks, pipelines, and other machinery using CIP and COP techniques.
  • Equipment Inspection: Conduct regular inspections of cleaning equipment, ensuring proper functioning and identifying any maintenance needs or defects.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, including chemical usage, cleaning schedules, and equipment inspections.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures while handling cleaning chemicals and operating cleaning equipment to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other bottling hall operators, production supervisors, and maintenance staff to coordinate cleaning schedules and ensure minimal disruption to production activities.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that cleaning procedures meet quality standards and regulatory requirements to maintain product integrity and hygiene.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any cleaning-related issues or challenges promptly to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing training programs and actively seek opportunities to improve cleaning processes, efficiency, and safety protocols.

  • Promptly report any environmental, safety, quality, or food-related concerns to your supervisor.
  • Immediately notify your superior of any (near) accidents or unsafe situations/actions.
  • Support colleagues by performing their tasks during their absence as directed by your supervisor.
  • Actively engage in the cross-training program as outlined in the Cross-Training Chart.
  • Foster positive relationships and maintain open communication with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Follow procedures and instructions outlined in the Employee Handbook and the IMS manual of TBC/BNB.
  • Comply with guidelines and procedures related to environmental, safety, quality, and food safety.
  • Utilize equipment, machinery, transportation, tools, and materials properly, including adherence to safety measures.
  • Adhere to procedures and regulations specific to job locations.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as directed by TBC/BNB regulations or supervisor instructions.

Experience:

  • Knowledge operating production line machinery such as filling, labeling, capping, and packaging equipment.
  • Preferable 1-3 years of experience working in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in a bottling, beverage, or food processing facility.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to operating complex bottling and packaging machinery, including new technologies and production processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.

  • Must be able to perform repetitive motions including bending,
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and work in standing positions for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Operating basic tools and electrical tools is essential.

Level of Education: 

  • EPI diploma preferable.
  • High school or EPB diploma or equivalent qualification; with additional certification or training.

Languages:

  • Knowledge of Papiamento, English, Dutch.
